ABOUT ME
I am an abundantly blessed mountain mama with five little ones under the age of six. My husband is a firefighter and I am a registered nurse, though our greatest joy and calling is at home with our children.
We live in the mountains of North Carolina with a breathtaking view of the continental divide from the home my husband built with his own hands. We named our home “Lone Pine” after an old family homestead.
I designed the babysnapsack™ (originally known as the Snuggle Down) in 2009. Until then, my 8 month old son was the only one in our home who did not sleep nestled under the year-round comfort of a down blanket. He slept in a traditional fleece sleep sack, which seemed like an almost ideal combination of safety, warmth and softness for an active baby. However, he outgrew one every few months, and the velcro closures did not hold up well through multiple washes.
I marveled at the thought of my baby contentedly snuggled in the softness of a goose down sleep sack that would stand the test of time.
After several experiments with sketching and producing an original pattern, I successfully created the Snuggle Down. I made several for family and friends, and progressively improved the product in both aesthetics and function. The unique adjustable feature with snaps (patent pending) highlights the safety and enduring value of the Snuggle Down.
At the end of 2010, I renamed the overall product the babysnapsack™, and began to offer the same unique and versatile design in a variety of fabrics and weights. I also began contracting with other local seamstresses to help with the process of handcrafting the babysnapsack™ with continued attention to quality, durability and detail.
My vision is that the babysnapsack™ will be passed down to subsequent siblings, and even to other families, as it is eventually well-loved and outgrown.
“I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.” Psalm 89:1-2
